Dr. Michelson graduated with honors from Weber State University with a Bachelors 
of Science degree in Chemistry. He then attended graduate school at the University 
 of Utah in Biomedical Engineering. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree 
from Creighton University School of Dentistry in Omaha, NE in 1987. He also completed
 a residency at the University of Utah School of Medicine in 1988. He then operated 
a private dental office in Sandy, Utah for 21 years.  Since 2009 he has been working 
for the State of Utah in the Family Dental Plan clinic where he now serves as the 
Assistant Clinical Director and the State Occupation Health Officer.  He is also the 
Utah State Dental Director and Oral Health Program Manager for the Department of Health.

Dr. Michelson has hospital privileges at Alta View Hospital and is certified in Advanced 
Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) by the American Heart Association. Dr. Michelson is a 
current member of the Association of State and Territorial Dental Directors, the America
n Dental Association (ADA), the Utah Dental Association (UDA), and is currently 
(2013-14) the president of the Salt Lake District Dental Society.

Dr. Michelson has many other distinguishing accomplishments. As a youth he received
 the Eagle Scout Award in the Boy Scouts of America and has since served as a 
Scout Master.  He skipped his junior and senior years in high school and started college
 early at age 16.  He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
 in Germany from 1977-1979. He sang as member of the Mormon Youth Symphony and 
Chorus in 1981-1983. He graduated from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 
Institute of Religion in 1981.  Dr. Michelson is a Certified Advanced Scuba Diver (SSI) 
since 2002, and a Certified Scuba Diver (NASDA) since 1977. He has been married to
 his wife Debbie for 31 years and they have one son.  He enjoys working with computers, 
swimming, and just being with family and friends.
